Games are becoming events. Supporters are walking through the stadium and expect good signal strength, entertainment and the experience that comes with a smartphone: sharing their moment with their community.
For many years we have been working in football stadia throughout Europe. We hear the buzz around ‘Wi-Fi’ rather often, but only few stadia have got Wi-Fi that meets the requirements. A lot of suppliers, many providers and even more questions. Who supplies the Wi-Fi? And who is that subcontractor? And what about the app? How do we develop it to be more than a news and social media hub? And, not unimportant either, what does it costs?
Clubs and stadia are dealing with these questions. BD Sport Europe entered into a consortium that consists of Stadium Connected BV, StadiaConnect Ltd. and BD Sport Europe. Together we provide an overall offer: Wi-Fi installation, (match day)-app and optimization of the app and Wi-Fi.
Through the app and Wi-Fi the stadium visit is mapped, after which the fan behaviour can be recognized. Based on the analysis the fan experience is optimized and new business models are emerging.
With one central app multiple facilities and innovative services can be used during a stadium visit: food & beverage, parking, merchandise, navigation, ticketing and betting & gaming. For the current partners of the club this brings added value due the (commercial) functionalities in the app.
Besides the app the club or stadium receives insight in the user numbers and behaviour. The user-friendly dashboard visualises live user numbers and shows several statistics per matchday in multiple dimensions: current, total and unique Wi-Fi connections, per access point and stand, most visited websites, bandwidth and other interesting information.
Each stadium has their own account manager, who will work together with the club to optimize the functionalities in the app by using the customer behaviour. This will help to push ticketing, food & beverage and merchandise amongst others.
We offer two services that strengthen each other:
- Wi-Fi installation for your facility; from planning to the end-to-end designs, implementation, technical management and on-going support.
- Development of a tailored club-app or match day app; for a seamless and permanent connection with the fans, whereby the needs of the partners are taken into account and with assistance for operational measures.
